Analysis to Control the Hazardous Emissions (Particulate Matters) of Furnace Using Cyclone Separator

Abstract

In the modern era scientists and engineers are looking for the alternative ways in order to reduce the pollution of the
environment. For this purpose various methods are being adopted and applied in different ways. The project of our group was to
resolve the issues of air pollution faced by the “Batala Industries Faisalabadâ€, as the industry was asked to take some precautionary
measures to control pollution (particulate matters) caused by the blast furnace installed in the industry. We took this problem as a
project and searched for the appropriate possible solutions. For this purpose we studied different research papers as well and came to
know about different solutions like scrubbers, dust catchers & cyclones etc., but the cyclone was best suited for the said purpose. Then
we discussed about the cyclone separators with industry and told them about the cost effectiveness and efficiency of the system for the
required problem. After the selection of the system, we designed the cyclone separator on Solid works and the analyzed on Ansys.
After doing analysis of cyclone, and changing different parameters, we fabricated it and gave it to the industry. The industry
appreciated our project and motivated us to do such kind of projects in future as well. The result of our project is that we became able to
control the pollutants upto 70% which were directly thrown in the environment before.
