Qualitative Analysis of Petroleum Fuels Available In Pakistan
Abstract
Emissions from motor vehicles contribute significantly to air pollution problems. Petroleum fuels are major source of particularly oxides of nitrogen (NOx), particulate matter (PM), emissions of air pollutants and toxic compounds with potential health impacts. In order to prevent from these problems the petroleum fuel should be a good quality. Qualitative analysis of fuel must cover a wide range of materials from gasoline and diesel fuel. In this research a qualitative analysis of petroleum fuels which is available in Pakistan is carried out. The purpose of this research is to investigate the different quality parameters of petroleum fuels. For this purpose a number of quality tests including aniline point, diesel index, volatility analysis, smoke point, flash point, cloud point, pour point and viscosity have been carried out in laboratory scale in order to estimate the quality of petroleum fuel available in Pakistan.
